Commonly, we would like to configure a laptop power on password or to enter administrator password for PC base on Windows 7, XP, Vista, 2000, etc. For example, ThinkPad power on password is the most popular. It is to prevent unauthorized users from accessing our computer. While, if we forgot power on password, it will also prevent us from entering laptop. We now need help on how to remove, recover, bypass or reset power on password.

Luckily, for most laptops, there is Metal-Oxide Semiconductor battery which can charge the power on password to memory on the computer. So, battery also can help us disable password on password to login PC at ease.
A. Power off computer;
B. Removed the battery and disconnected every cable;
C. Short-circuit the two password pads (two small square holes);
D. Under the short-circuit condition, power on the computer and wait until the POST (Power On Self Test) ends. After the POST ends, the password prompt does not appear. The power on password reset is finished.

If we need to reactivate the forgotten password, let’s set power on password again.
